Level 1 - Introduction
Here is a summary review of Level 1 -
Introduction
- Multiple formats are other ways of publishing beyond
printing. They include Accessible Web Sites, Audio, Braille,
Computer Diskettes, Described Video, E-Text, Large Print,
On-Screen Text and SignWriting.
- The primary purpose of multiple formats is to provide access
for all clients because everyone has the right to access public
information.
- A more diverse society will fuel the demand for multiple
formats. Older Canadians, people with disabilities, new Canadians
and the population as a whole represent a wide range of user
needs.
- Providing multiple formats when they are requested by clients
who require them to access information is mandatory under the
Communications Policy of the Government of Canada.
- Multiple formats are to be produced and delivered in a timely
manner.
- Each format of a publication must be available at the same
cost as the original product (or free, if the original is also
free).
